Spring Is Almost Over Here In Phoenix

It has been a beautiful Spring here. It will begin warming up and then staying hot by the end of April- Early May. We are enjoying every minute of the nice cool nights and mornings.

I enjoy decorating for the holidays. I will make the traditional Corned Beef & Cabbage meal on St. Patrick’s Day. I also make green jello with pears. It actually goes well with the salty seasoning of the corned beef. Some nice crusty bread rounds the meal out well.

I have a cute standing leprechaun somewhere in my garage… I haven’t been able to find my seasonal goodies since we completely cleaned out the garage… oh well I guess!

A wish for luck!

I planted some red geraniums in a pot for good luck …I am hoping to get away with being able to keep these flowers as Javelinas seem to eat everything flower I plant in my front yard! They are a real nuisance!

Star Spangled Bravery The National Anthem Challenge

The National Anthem (my acapella cover).

Hello, let me introduce myself. My name is Tyna. I’m a homemaker/ Mom and Gram from Phoenix AZ. I play keyboard and sing for fun. Above, is the topic of my first post on this Blog. After it has been much talked about and laughed at, I decided that I wanted to know first hand what it was to sing the Star Spangled Banner. As an adult, I have rarely had an occasion to sing it. I know by hearing others sing it that it’s difficult… Now, I have sung the song and I’ve posted it on my SoundCloud channel. My upload is raw. No enhancements, recorded with my iPhone. Not because my rendition is great, but just because. I think anyone attempting to sing this song acapella in front of people, brave! I can imagine the thick skin you would have to have to stand before so many people and belt out a “national treasure” that is beyond difficult. The crowd and players all amped up ready for a game. The energy and testosterone in the room/stadium itself, would be huge to overcome… Anyway, it may be a silly thing to do but posting my acapella rendition is my way of being brave. I suppose that Fergie knows that any press, is good, even bad. Still, it has to hurt and I’m betting that she’s glad the past few days are over. Today, it’s old news! Who knows, maybe Christina Aguilera called Fergie to commiserate… Brave, both of them!

I think it would be cool to start a thing… we should challenge each other to sing the National Anthem and then post it to social media. It’s patriotic and so brave! If you decide to try it, send me a link, I want to hear it!
